Question: Why are they making so many "remakes" of classic horror movies?
(Posted by: Hugz and Kissez! ~YAY~ on 2010-07-29 17:32:50)
Now I don't mean to be negative about anything but Im just saying. Its like they cant make their own ideas of horror movies so they remake the old ones. Like Friday the 13th, Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and so on. I swear I think these people are trying to make them scarier than the old ones which they are NOT. All they are really doing is randomly putting sex scenes in (im just stating facts here!), and its not really all that scary anymore.. but the old ones im still scared of haha. Oh and I understand that "sex sells " in movies now (from which I heard), but they still could make other ideas and leave those classic movies alone... |

Good for you! I agree, leave well enough alone. Unfortunately, a formula that worked once can work again, and it's a lot easier (and therefore presumably cheaper) to just re-make something than it is to develop an original work and take a chance with it. |

The franchises are already established, so its basically a cash grab on the studios part. |

Most big releases are aimed at teenagers... Most teenagers haven't seen the originals It's a quick easy way to make money from something that has already been done. |

It happens to be the current Hollywood trend. Hollywood has trends all the time, this one happens to be nostalgia, remakes, adaptations, basically familiar stuff that people know and will definitely pay to see. Occasionally you get a gem, but many times you have to be the target consumer in order to get your money's worth. That's not to say the studios don't put out anything except the trend, but it definitely makes up a big fraction. I wonder what the next trend is going to be? Right now we're probably just halfway through comic books, if half way. |
