Question: Why do horror movie commercials have to be so terrifying?
(Posted by: Justin Stewart on 2010-07-30 17:26:01)
I know horror movies need to be advertised, but man, some of the images they show on TV are way too terrifying! I was watching Degrassi not too long ago, and an ad for The Last Exorcism came on talking about all this demonic stuff. I was horrified! Whenever those ads come on, I either have to mute, change the channel, or turn away from the screen! |

So people are interested in watching them. The key essence of a horror movie is to have the audiences on the edge of their seat when they go see it, it's essential for the ad as well. If the trailer for Nightmare on Elm Street wasn't scary, just showing the non-scary scenes, people will have a misconception of what the movie is about. When they go see it, they might leave and want their money back. With some horror movies, the trailers were actually more scary and interesting than the actual movie. |

Because they're advertising HORROR movies! They're just doing what they're supposed to. |

Commercials have never really bothered me, but the DVD box art is usually to graphic for my taste. Especially the Saw movies (you know, the ones with teeth, toes, a head, etc.?). |

To be honest i agree... but what time where you watching tv, if it was after 9 pm i cant see any problem with putting that commercial up, but if it was earlier then its stupid because kids are awake! |

Well I got scared by one! An this was at 12o CLOCK!!! in the daytime! They shouldn't advertise scary movies in plain daylight when kidz are watching, Its not right. You know, when the original king kong came out It was an 18 rated movie! Now its a PG "wtf " I wonder is this sequence will keep happening over the years, wait a minute... dose this mean that films like 'paranormal activity' and 'the exorcist' will become PG's in the next 100 years, because that's what has happened with king kong, just imagine baby's watching the exorcist, "her head is twisty mummy, ha ha ha ha ha ha! Violence rules " |
